Meet Abby Goelzer, Founder and COO

Hello and welcome to TWT! I am so happy to be here in this space with all of you. We are here to serve people living with Parkinson’s Disease and their care partners so that you can go from living with PD to thriving in as many areas of life as possible.

To that end, part of our work with our customers and staff is to create space for you to acknowledge and process the grief that comes with a life-changing diagnosis for yourself or a loved one. A Parkinson’s diagnosis at any age alters the path you thought you were on. From transforming what retirement was going to look like and how families/hobbies/jobs are affected to shifting entire aspects of your identity, the grief that comes with these changes and shifts deserves to be acknowledged and integrated into your life.

Grief is complicated, and often with medical diagnoses, comes in multiple forms. There is the grief of what you knew to be true about yourself and your body changing drastically. There is anticipatory grief of not knowing exactly when and how things will change as your time with Parkinson’s advances. There is the grief carried by care partners of their own lives changing in concert with their loved ones’, but perhaps not having a place to put that grief without feeling guilty in doing so.

At TWT, we strive to hold space for all aspects of our customers’ and employees’ humanity. Grief is a piece that often gets ignored or brushed aside in our larger western culture and society, but we’d like to build something different and honor all aspects of our humanity. In doing so, we want to help you move through your grief at your pace and your timing.

I look forward to working with you and providing the resources you need to process all of the transformation that comes with Parkinson’s Diagnosis from the very beginning and throughout your journey. As part of our tiered services, we will be offering grief support in various forms geared to further help us all Thrive Well Together.

Abby Goelzer, Grief Coach, Founder, and COO of TWT.
